Good news and bad news



Bad news first, the new valve that looked great yesterday is leaking. It’s a moderate leak and the valve she had before was leaking severely so it’s still better than it was, but it’s not working right. Dr. Martin was so bummed! She is an amazing doctor! She trained at Stanford and she is incredible. She says she has never had this happen before. She is wondering if one of the leaflets of the valve got stuck because of a tiny clot from yesterday’s procedure. 

The plan is to put Hailey on a blood thinner for the next month and see if the valve will start working again. If it works that would be amazing and wonderful! Please pray that can be the outcome! 

If it doesn’t work then we will have to consider doing the cath over again and doing the same procedure or just hope that her energy level increases from the part that is working. 

The good news is that we do get to come home today. We will have to be more careful about falls etc since Hailey will be on a blood thinner, but she can still be normally active so that is good. Sad that this happened, especially as it is so rare, but praying that the blood thinners will work so she doesn’t have to do this again any time soon!

Home Sweet Home!!!

We made it! I feel so happy to be home! I have loved the nice weather in California so I wondered if I would feel happy when I saw the snow, but at the first glimpse of the snowy mountains flying into Utah I wanted to cry for joy!   It was, of course, an adventure getting home, but I decided to pack my sense of humor from the get-go and it turned out great thanks, again, to many angels!  I checked out of the hospital with Hailey on Thursday around 4:30pm. It was so strange to get to take her with me. I made a little sign for her car seat to travel with so we could try to stay healthy on the trip :-) By the time I had packed and cleaned and figured out how to give Hailey her new medicines (she has 10 now that we give 8 times a day between various dosing schedules) I had about 40 minutes to sleep before my 3:20am shuttle pickup.  I started wheeling my bags and Hailey and the oxygen downstairs. Day 24 Headed Home

Yay!!! We get to leave for home today!! We are all going to drive together.  The last few weeks have been so full of miracles and we are so happy to be together!! I can't believe we get to go home together!!! I wanted to post some pictures of Hailey leaving the hospital. It was so cute. Hailey was holding the string of a balloon the girls gave her and she wasn't letting go for anything!!
