Day 36

Hailey got moved to the 3rd floor today!!! Hooray!!! We are so excited. They are even talking about possibly discharging us early next week. It comes down to a few stable days for her and then making sure that we are very comfortable with taking care of Hailey's ventilator.

I think we are getting to where we feel like we know more about the vent but we definitely haven't gotten comfortable yet. I'm sure it will take some time even when we get home.

For now we are trying to transition all of Hailey's care to us. The nurses are having us do the suctioning and the trach care for now. Gradually they will hand over all her care. It is going to be a busy few days.

Hailey seems really happy today. She has been smiling a lot and I have been getting to hold her, which makes us all happy!

Home Sweet Home!!!

We made it! I feel so happy to be home! I have loved the nice weather in California so I wondered if I would feel happy when I saw the snow, but at the first glimpse of the snowy mountains flying into Utah I wanted to cry for joy!   It was, of course, an adventure getting home, but I decided to pack my sense of humor from the get-go and it turned out great thanks, again, to many angels!  I checked out of the hospital with Hailey on Thursday around 4:30pm. It was so strange to get to take her with me. I made a little sign for her car seat to travel with so we could try to stay healthy on the trip :-) By the time I had packed and cleaned and figured out how to give Hailey her new medicines (she has 10 now that we give 8 times a day between various dosing schedules) I had about 40 minutes to sleep before my 3:20am shuttle pickup.  I started wheeling my bags and Hailey and the oxygen downstairs. Day 24 Headed Home

Yay!!! We get to leave for home today!! We are all going to drive together.  The last few weeks have been so full of miracles and we are so happy to be together!! I can't believe we get to go home together!!! I wanted to post some pictures of Hailey leaving the hospital. It was so cute. Hailey was holding the string of a balloon the girls gave her and she wasn't letting go for anything!!
