Tentative surgery date for May

Well we got word of Hailey's tentative surgery date. She is scheduled to have a cath procedure on May 11th and surgery on the 13th assuming that her pressures look good enough in her lungs to have it done. We won't know until the cath.

I have very mixed emotions about having a date. Obviously it is good so we can plan, but the thought of seeing her go through that again gives me that cement-in-your-stomach kind of feeling. On the other hand I just want it to be behind us and for her to get a break for a while.

Anyway, doing great for now. Just keeping busy. We have therapy twice a week and usually a doctors appt or two.

I feel bad for my other girls sometimes because they are not getting a lot of attention. They have been so sweet and so patient about things even though it has been hard for them. They are truly little angels.  They have been so helpful. They are constantly fetching binkies, burp cloths, diapers and the like and they help me carry the feeding pump, oxygen and bouncer around too.

Hailey is starting to put weight on her legs again, which she hadn't done since a month or so before surgery. She is starting to try to roll to grab things. She giggles like crazy when I rub my nose on her tummy and has started reaching out for things all the time. She will be 8 months old in 3 days. Sometimes it can be discouraging to see how far behind laying in a bed for 60 days has made her. But, then the triumph of those tiny successes we might have overlooked has become mighty. Every tiny step causes us to want to dance for joy!

Today Katelyn was brushing Hailey's hair with a baby brush. Finally Hailey had had enough brushing so Katelyn gave her the brush and she started "brushing" my hair with it while I held her on my lap. We were so surprised!! It was hilarious!! She could tell she was getting our attention so she just kept going! So fun to see her great personality!!
