Hailey gets moved

Dad's log:  Hailey got moved out of the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) to the post-surgical area on the 3rd floor.  That is a good thing.  Before they moved her they attempted to bottle feed her and Hailey aspirated some milk.  She is doing fine again but she is not coordinated at sucking and swallowing.  They have encouraged us to work with her at taking a pacifier.  Angie was able to get her to take a pacifier in her new room so we feel some hope that she can work towards bottle feeding.

During the first few minutes of our visit in Hailey's new room, she had a seizure-like episode where she went rigid (postured), momentarily stopped breathing, foamed at the mouth and turned blue.  This lasted for about a minute.  The nurse was there and did a great job but i scared Angie and I pretty bad, especially since they are talking about sending her home with us.   To us it seemed like a seizure but according to the nurses it didn't have all the signs of a true seizure.  They are checking into it.  It could be anything from an electrolyte imbalance to a neurological disorder.

After that, Hailey seemed fine and we both got to hold her.  For me, this was my fist time holing my newest daughter.  She is definately a cutie and I fell more in love with her.    She was really awake, more awake than any other time that Angie or I have seen her.  So we got quite a few pictures of her with her eyes open.

  2. So glad you got to hold her Ben! Glad to hear she is taking a pacifier too. I am sure it does much for her to be held by her mom and dad. It is fun to see a picture of her with her eyes open! She is such a doll! We continue to pray for you guys. We have been having a great time here with the girls. They have been great.

  3. How does she look compared to your other girls? She looks so big to me already, but maybe it is because our babies are only 6 lbs when they are born. She is so beautiful. I love reading your updates! Prayers are with you. Even little Leah is praying for you every night:)
