5 days since surgery
Well, Hailey did pretty well today. She had a fever this morning, it subsided and now it is back again. It feels like the Stanford days all over again so I am going to ask that they test all the central lines for infection. (Central lines are IVs that go to or near your heart).
She has been moving a little bit and opening her eyes here and there although she is so out of it from all of the medicines she is on that she isn't coherent.
Ben headed back to Idaho Falls this evening. We feel a lot if pressure to conserve as much vacation time as possible, assuming that her heart surgery in June will still happen--although that will greatly depend on what happens in the next few days.
My mom also went home as she too needed to return to work. Ben's mom is helping me watch the girls until Ben returns Friday.
I have had several doctors and nurses tell me how shocked they were when they heard what happened so this complication is DEFINITELY not a common occurrence.
It has been really hard. It kind of seems like we just come up for air in time to go back under, but there have been a multitude of blessings and tender mercies too along the way. I am just praying my heart out that she can recover without any ill effects. I miss my sweet Hailey so much! It is hard to see her suffer.
Thanks to all for your love and support! We are amazed over and over as you all pray for and support us. You are wonderful!! We so appreciate you!!
