Post-op Day 9

Hailey is doing well today. Her lungs still sound pretty wheezy, but that is still in the range of what they expect. She is taking 35mL/hr of formula through the NJ tube (very much the same as an NG tube, they put it through the nose and all the way through the stomach into the very first part of the small intestine). They have been able to wean her down to small amounts of her various medications.

It sounds like they really don't expect to be able to remove the tube until Tuesday or Wednesday at least, so it looks like Ben and the girls will be headed home without me on the 1st. We are of course a little disappointed not to be able to go home all together but we knew that was a possibility from the get go.

Hopefully I won't be here too long by myself, but I am glad they aren't rushing her recovery. They are taking the cautious route and we are very grateful for that.

We were there to help change one of Hailey's diapers today and it was quite the process as we had to change the bedding around all her tubes and wires. It took Ben, two nurses, and me but we managed! :-)

I looked at some older pictures if Hailey and realized she really has come so far. I thought I would post one of her pictures from the day after surgery for comparison to how she looks today. She is really starting to look more like herself.

Thank you for your prayers!
