Day 58

She is doing really well!
They are about to take the central line out  of her chest. It has been a good day so far. The housing has been worked out so that I can stay where I am until the Ronald McDonald house opens up.

They are planning to do surgery about the 15th of July, which is later than I had hoped. The plan is to discharge Hailey soon but keep her here in California.

We were going to have the girls come stay with me because they have a little day camp for them at the Ronald McDonald House, but if they got sick and I am the only one here, Hailey would probably get sick as well because we would all be in the same room. So, with heavy hearts we have decided that, aside from a 3-day visit next week, they will stay in Idaho with various family members until surgery. It is hard, but if we can get through a grueling month or so of separation, we will have the best possible chance for the surgery not to be moved again.

We are willing to do whatever it takes not to have to prolong the agony any more. It has been such a long road and we have had about all we can take. I estimated that Hailey has spent about 150 days in the hospital now in her 11 months of life.

We keep hoping and praying the surgery can be soon, but they want to make sure they leave enough time after her cold for her lungs to be in as good a condition as possible, so likely that will be around the 15th of July.

On a positive note, I went to eat lunch at a restaurant today. The manager saw my parent badge from the hospital and asked how things were going. Then he told me my lunch was on him! I almost cried. He thought he gave me a free pizza, but he gave so much more. It is humbling and amazing to be the recipient of so much kindness. People have put gas in our car, visited, made us food, done our laundry, mowed our lawn, watched our kids, helped sort out and fill syringes for Hailey's medication, cleaned our home, prayed for us, fasted for us, donated time and money and other kindnesses too numerous to list. We have been so blessed by our many angels and then have come from all over.

I know personally that Heavenly Father "visits us in our afflictions". He has let us know through so many earthly angels that He knows us and is aware of us. We haven't been able to keep up with all of the thank you notes we hope to write, but please know that you are blessing us and no matter how "small" anything you have done for us may seem to you, it is unforgettable to us. May Heavenly Father bless you for your kindness!
