Day 20

Hailey is doing about the same today. The CT showed that there is still a pocket of fluid going toward her heart but it is much smaller than before, which is good, and they think her current antibiotics will take care of that. 

I also talked to Hailey's main cardiologist last night and she thinks we should try to still have the June 17th heart surgery unless Hailey has any more infections or complications in addition to what we are already dealing with. 

I was relieved to hear that. As difficult as it may be to go from one hospital visit right into another, I will just be glad to have it done so she can have a break! Even the surgery in June is dependent on her pulmonary pressures being lower than they were in November so we will pray that her little vessels grow!

The child life specialist here gave me an early Mother's Day present. The nurse and respiratory therapist helped her snap a quick picture with Hailey's mask off! It has been a long time since I have seen her without anything on her face! I LOVE IT! I almost cried when she brought it! Here it is: 


The child life specialist said she told Hailey it was for mommy and she looked right at the camera! 

We feel so blessed! Hailey's recovery has been a complete miracle!! Love you all!

Home Sweet Home!!!

We made it! I feel so happy to be home! I have loved the nice weather in California so I wondered if I would feel happy when I saw the snow, but at the first glimpse of the snowy mountains flying into Utah I wanted to cry for joy!   It was, of course, an adventure getting home, but I decided to pack my sense of humor from the get-go and it turned out great thanks, again, to many angels!  I checked out of the hospital with Hailey on Thursday around 4:30pm. It was so strange to get to take her with me. I made a little sign for her car seat to travel with so we could try to stay healthy on the trip :-) By the time I had packed and cleaned and figured out how to give Hailey her new medicines (she has 10 now that we give 8 times a day between various dosing schedules) I had about 40 minutes to sleep before my 3:20am shuttle pickup.  I started wheeling my bags and Hailey and the oxygen downstairs. Day 24 Headed Home

Yay!!! We get to leave for home today!! We are all going to drive together.  The last few weeks have been so full of miracles and we are so happy to be together!! I can't believe we get to go home together!!! I wanted to post some pictures of Hailey leaving the hospital. It was so cute. Hailey was holding the string of a balloon the girls gave her and she wasn't letting go for anything!!
