Day 27

Hailey was doing a bit worse this morning. They had to go up a bunch on her oxygen because she wasn't maintaining her oxygen saturations. She was on 8 liters of oxygen a minute and now she is on 15.

They weren't really sure why she was having trouble but they think maybe it is withdrawal from the narcotics she was on. She has had a few signs of withdrawal. She has been so sweaty that she completely soaked the pillowcase and my shirt every time I held her yesterday. Sweating is an indication of withdrawal. They have cut one of her medications in half in the last 2 days so it makes sense. They have her a rescue dose of the medicine and she looks better.

The nurse practioner called me this morning to tell me she had to go up on her oxygen support. Seeing the hospital on the caller ID just about gives me a heart attack because they usually don't call unless it is something serious. Luckily she looks okay and she is settling out but it got my heart going.

I talked with our cardiologist again about Hailey's upcoming surgery. It sounds like they will give her one more week to recover and then make a decision. She thinks Hailey is okay as far as the surgery not being urgent yet. She assured me that even if we have to move the surgery out, they will squeeze us in if Hailey gets worse. That was comforting to me, so I feel less stressed about that, though I really would be happy to get it all out of the way before Abby starts school. I don't want to miss her 1st day!

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support and love. I don't think you can ever know how much your prayers help us and how important your support is. It is easy to feel alone when you sit in the hospital all day, but all your love, prayers, kind words, donations, service, etc remind us that we have so many people who care and who are with us, supporting and loving us.
