Day 5

Dad's Log:  Not much change for Hailey today.  They adjusted some vent settings but are otherwise letting her be.  The steroid she is on makes her blood sugar high so she is on insulin until they discontinue the steroid.  She has had a lot of runny stool caused by the C-Diff but that appears to be tapering off today, a sign the antibiotic she is on may be working.  She still has a persistent high fever that goes up and down.  This is likely the result of the C-Diff and/or virus.  More to come tomorrow.

    Sending lots and lots of hugs. I'll be up there, without Aaron, Tuesday evening if you need anything. I'd hold off on the trach if possible until she's better. Metapneumo will make breathing hard and C.diff is just no fun. It may be that once she gets past that, things get (relatively) easy again. You know where I am if I can help if you end up going the trach route. Love you!!!

Home Sweet Home!!!

We made it! I feel so happy to be home! I have loved the nice weather in California so I wondered if I would feel happy when I saw the snow, but at the first glimpse of the snowy mountains flying into Utah I wanted to cry for joy!   It was, of course, an adventure getting home, but I decided to pack my sense of humor from the get-go and it turned out great thanks, again, to many angels!  I checked out of the hospital with Hailey on Thursday around 4:30pm. It was so strange to get to take her with me. I made a little sign for her car seat to travel with so we could try to stay healthy on the trip :-) By the time I had packed and cleaned and figured out how to give Hailey her new medicines (she has 10 now that we give 8 times a day between various dosing schedules) I had about 40 minutes to sleep before my 3:20am shuttle pickup.  I started wheeling my bags and Hailey and the oxygen downstairs. Day 24 Headed Home

Yay!!! We get to leave for home today!! We are all going to drive together.  The last few weeks have been so full of miracles and we are so happy to be together!! I can't believe we get to go home together!!! I wanted to post some pictures of Hailey leaving the hospital. It was so cute. Hailey was holding the string of a balloon the girls gave her and she wasn't letting go for anything!!
