Day 7

Hailey's platelet count has been down from the 230s to about 25 overnight. They checked for blood clots by doing a bunch of ultrasounds this morning, but didn't find any. They talked about doing blood transfusions but feel that she looks okay without them. They are testing her to see if she has heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, which is something I guess they can get if they have been on the blood thinner heparin a lot. She has been on it a fair amount in the past, but this stay they have only used it to flush her IV. I still haven't  learned enough about that one to know what the implications would be if she did have it.

She is still having high fevers so they put her back on an antibiotic and took more cultures of everything except her breathing tube. They would do that too, but since her platelet count is so low they don't want to risk making her bleed into her lungs.

Mom and Dad had to go home today. We will sure miss them. They have helped with the girls a ton and kept us company too. The Relief Society President from our amazing ward brought us a care package that included our crock pot with some amazing dinner all ready to cook inside, cookies, snacks, books, dolls, toys, crafts, puzzles and games for the kids, fresh bread, and a whole bunch of other stuff. We hope you all know how amazing you are!!!!! It was like Christmas morning. The girls were so excited and I admit I cried seeing it all. No matter what you do or have done for us, kind words, posts on the blog, cleaning, praying, making dinner, watching kids, please know that it means the world to us!  Thank you!
