Day 15

The breathing tube is out and Hailey is on bi-pap!!! Now we just have to pray like crazy that she won't need to have the breathing tube put back in! 

You just never know. The first 6 hours are the most likely time to be re-intubated. She has a big mask on her nose, which she hates, but the tube is out and they are letting her wake up!! 

I don't have any pictures yet because I have been with Abby and Katelyn today and Ben has been at the hospital with Hailey all day waiting for them to extubate. They were going to extubate this morning but it took her longer to come out of the sedation than they first expected. 

We are so excited!! If we can just hold onto the ground we have gained this is a huge step toward going home, though there are lots more steps to go--this is one of the most difficult to get through.

Home Sweet Home!!!

We made it! I feel so happy to be home! I have loved the nice weather in California so I wondered if I would feel happy when I saw the snow, but at the first glimpse of the snowy mountains flying into Utah I wanted to cry for joy!   It was, of course, an adventure getting home, but I decided to pack my sense of humor from the get-go and it turned out great thanks, again, to many angels!  I checked out of the hospital with Hailey on Thursday around 4:30pm. It was so strange to get to take her with me. I made a little sign for her car seat to travel with so we could try to stay healthy on the trip :-) By the time I had packed and cleaned and figured out how to give Hailey her new medicines (she has 10 now that we give 8 times a day between various dosing schedules) I had about 40 minutes to sleep before my 3:20am shuttle pickup.  I started wheeling my bags and Hailey and the oxygen downstairs. Day 24 Headed Home

Yay!!! We get to leave for home today!! We are all going to drive together.  The last few weeks have been so full of miracles and we are so happy to be together!! I can't believe we get to go home together!!! I wanted to post some pictures of Hailey leaving the hospital. It was so cute. Hailey was holding the string of a balloon the girls gave her and she wasn't letting go for anything!!
